There’s no doubt in my mind our ancestors who made magick, cast spells, and gave out remedies used what they hand on-hand. If you want to stay away from appropriating, simply leave those ingredients and methods out of your personal freezer magick. Should I also stop using my stove or oven in my spell work? How about candles, are they a certain magic tradition too?
